After following up a five-game losing streak with two straight victories against the Angels, the Yankees took a step back this afternoon in their series finale with California. They were shutout by Chuck Finley and co. 4-0.
Finley went 7.1 innings, striking out nine and allowing just four hits – all singles. He gave way to Mike James and closer Troy Percival who finished out the game. Derek Jeter had two of the Yankees’ four hits on the day, bringing his average up to .307
Kenny Rogers started for New York, and turned in another mediocre performance.
