Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders win 2016 Gildan Triple-A Championship

El Paso Chihuahuas 1 – Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 3

After winning the Governor’s Cup title, the RailRiders head to Memphis to compete for the 2015 Gildan Triple-A National Championship against the San Diego Padres Triple-A affiliate, the El Paso Chihuahuas.

The RailRiders struck early against Walker Lockett and the Chihuahuas. Mark Payton and Clint Frazier led off with singles and Chris Parmelee let them cruise around the bases on his three-run home run to right.

Starting for the RailRiders, Jordan Montgomery was strong. Montgomery set the Chihuahuas down in order through the first two innings. In the third inning, Jose Rondon led off with a double and Nick Noonan hit a single that put runners on the corners.
