Sanchez passed ball plates run, frustrates Sevy

ST. PETERSBURG -- A dugout conversation between Yankees right-hander Luis Severino and catcher Gary Sanchez got heated on Monday night at Tropicana Field after a passed ball charged to Sanchez allowed Jake Bauers to score from second base, giving the Rays an early 1-0 lead.

Bauers reached on a two-out double in the first inning, then Severino's fourth pitch to Ji-Man Choi, a sharp-breaking 1-2 slider that was nearly a strike, bounced off Sanchez's right foot, caroming into foul territory outside the third-base line. Bauers quickly advanced to third, then kept running toward the plate, at which point he noticed Sanchez jogging after the ball.
