NEW YORK -- CC Sabathia served as the Yankees' reliable stopper last season, faring exceptionally in starts immediately following a team loss, but the veteran left-hander couldn't provide the necessary length to do so on Friday night against the Orioles.
Sabathia departed his second start of the season after four innings and 58 pitches, complaining of right hip soreness. He will undergo an MRI, the club announced.
The 37-year-old Sabathia surrendered three solo home runs -- two to Manny Machado, who cleared the fences in the first and third innings for the 15th multi-homer game of his career.
