CLEVELAND -- Austin Romine's wild Little League home run highlighted an unorthodox win for the Yankees, who notched early blasts from Didi Gregorius and Greg Bird, then reclaimed their lead upon the legs of their backup catcher to post a 5-4 victory over the Indians on Saturday evening at Progressive Field.
Romine's deciding dash came on a seventh-inning double to the gap in right-center field off starter Mike Clevinger. Errors by right fielder Brandon Guyer and second baseman Erik Gonzalez allowed Romine to proceed to third base, and he was waved toward home plate as the ball took a fortuitous bounce and landed in the third-base dugout.
