And I’m sure most of you, like me, are very sad about his passing so I thought it would be nice if we could talk about Yogi and how much he meant to us as Yankee fans. Obviously the majority of us never saw him play, but he was around the team enough for us to have some stories.
My Yogi story is that I called him Yogi Bear until kindergarten when a classmate finally corrected me. That was embarrassing. I’ll blame my parents who loved when I messed things up like that and thought it was adorable but who didn’t want to correct me.
