Report: Yankees on verge of acquiring Giants’ outfielder Andrew McCutchen

The Yankees have set their eyes on a new stand-in for Aaron Judge.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, New York is reportedly on the verge of acquiring veteran outfielder Andrew McCutchen from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for two prospects. Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre infielder Abiatal Avelino has been discussed as a potential piece of the package.

McCutchen, 31, would fill the outfield void left by Judge, who’s missed nearly five weeks with a chip fracture in his right wrist. According to Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone, Judge has yet to swing a bat due to pain at the end of his range of motion.
