A weekend of excessive drinking led to CC Sabathia to announce he would not be joining his teammates in the postseason and instead will seek in-patient treatment for alcohol abuse, reports the New York Post.
Sources say that the New York Yankees pitcher realized he needed help during the team’s final regular season road trip in Baltimore last weekend, during which he spent a majority of time overindulging on booze in the team hotel.
“His drinking got really bad this weekend, and it put him in a really bad place,” a source close to the team told The Post.
