Report: Gleyber Torres promoted to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre

Gleyber Torres is now one phone call away from the Bronx.

According to Pinstriped Pros writer Antonio Mendes, Torres will be promoted from double-A Trenton to triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The club has not yet confirmed the promotion.

The 20-year-old middle infielder hit .277/.363/.504 with five homers, 10 doubles and 18 RBI in 135 plate appearances for the Thunder this year.

Torres is clearly on the fast-track to the Bronx, and could make a cameo at some point this year. Rated the No. 2 best prospect in all of baseball, the Yankees have gotten Torres reps at second base as well as shortstop, his natural position, in order to make him more versatile.
