The Yankees aren’t the only AL East team gearing up this offseason.
The Rays acquired outfielders Jose Martinez and Randy Arozarena from the Cardinals and sent top pitching prospect Matt Liberatore and catching prospect Edgardo Rodriguez — as well as a Round B pick (66th overall) — to St. Louis. The deal, which also includes a Round A pick (38th overall) from the Cardinals, was announced by the teams Thursday night.
The Rays shed some of their highly-touted farm system in order to add some depth to their roster. After finishing second — seven games behind — to the Yankees last season, Tampa Bay has kept themselves busy in the offseason.
