There came a moment in the third inning of Yankees-White Sox Sunday, when crowd noise was the only sound leaving the Yankees Radio Network booth.
Then came a “pop.” Then a voice returned.
“Ya know Suzyn,” John (Pa Pinstripe) Sterling said, “I always know I’m in trouble when I talk into a dead microphone.”
We could go for the cheap shot and say a dead microphone does wonders for Sterling’s play-by-play. Or that he never sounded so good. That’s not our mission.
This is about the Yankees’ future, where Joe Girardi’s team is headed, that sort of thing.
