In our first crack at drawing up a fantasy 2019 Opening Day roster for the Yankees if management spends big money this offseason, we filled their possible left field hole with touted free agent Bryce Harper.
It looks like we can cross Harper off the Yankees’ list of possibilities because the Yankees opted to keep left fielder Brett Gardner, who is returning on a one-year, $7.5-million contract after his $12.5 million club option was declined.
With Gardner back, there’s probably no room on the roster for Harper with the Yankees outfield situation back to what it was for much of 2018 when they carried only right fielder Aaron Judge, center fielder Aaron Hicks, DH/corner outfielder Giancarlo Stanton and Gardner.
