Pineda's rehab start generates positive reports

NEW YORK -- In what could have been his final Minor League rehab start, Yankees right-hander Michael Pineda allowed one run on three hits in 4 2/3 innings with three strikeouts and no walks Friday for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Pineda, who has been on the disabled list since July 30 with a flexor strain in his right forearm, threw 62 pitches, then an additional 10 in the bullpen, and the reports Yankees manager Joe Girardi received were all positive.

Girardi did not reveal the next step for Pineda, but considering Pineda has not spent a lot of time on the disabled list and away from Major League action, it is likely that his next start will come in the bigs.
