Yankees hitters aren’t the only ones on the receiving end of high-and-inside pitches these days.
Long time Sports Illustrated columnist Peter King fired a high-and-hard one on Twitter at Michael Kay and David Cone during the Yankees-Red Sox telecast Tuesday night.
It didn’t take long for Kay to respond with a retaliatory pitch.
The play, which seemed to have sparked King’s ire, occurred when Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts attempted a steal with David Ortiz at the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning in a two-run game. He was gunned down by Brian McCann for the second out of the inning.
