The Yankees’ bad luck in Washington D.C. didn’t end with Wednesday’s rainout.
The team ended up spending the night at Dulles Airport when it was unable to take off for Kansas City on Wednesday night.
General manager Brian Cashman said there were “a number of issues” that caused the delay, including mechanical, weather and aviation rules that limit how long crews can work in one shift.
“It was a perfect storm of a series of events that caused it,” Cashman said.
It began with the Yankees trying to get out earlier after their games were washed out at Nationals Park on Wednesday afternoon.
