Among the highlights from Pedro Martinez’s autobiography “PEDRO” are Martinez taking about impromptu sleepovers with Manny Ramirez, adding some beanball heat to Boston’s heated rivalry with the Yankees, taking the blame for the Red Sox’s playoff loss in 2003 and revealing the biggest regret of his career – throwing Don Zimmer to the ground.
The book — authored with the Boston Herald’s Michael Silverman and set to go on sale May 5 — was excerpted Thursday in Sports Illustrated. Most of Martinez’s anecdotes focus on the peak of the Red Sox-Yankees feud, but he added some humor with a story about Ramirez.
