BALTIMORE — The Baltimore Orioles have waited and waited and waited on Dylan Bundy. They waited through the seasons lost to Tommy John surgery and other ailments and a handle-with-care period when he pitched out of the bullpen.
Bundy, the fourth overall pick in 2011 and the first high school player chosen, showed the Yankees on Monday why he has been worth the wait.
Bundy kept the Yankees in check for seven innings, and relievers Darren O’Day and Brad Brach closed out the final innings as the Orioles beat the Yankees, 3-2.
The win allowed the Orioles to end a seven-game losing streak and close to within three and a half games of the first-place Yankees, who began a stretch of 13 consecutive games within the American League East.
