BALTIMORE — Esmil Rogers entered spring training in the mix for the No. 5 starter’s spot. Almost two weeks into June, the right-handed reliever has been outrighted by the Yankees.
“Our hope is that he comes back,’’ Joe Girardi said of Rogers, who allowed four runs (one earned) and five hits in two innings in an 11-3 loss to the Orioles. “Go to Triple-A and start. I thought he threw the ball decent.’’
Friday night’s outing followed a miserable performance on June 5 against the Angels, when he allowed five runs and four hits without recording an out.
