On this day in Yankees history – Dave Righetti’s no-no

On Independence Day 1983, Dave Righetti threw a no hitter to beat the Red Sox 4-0 at Yankee Stadium. He became the first Bronx Bomber southpaw to throw a no-no since George Mogridge back in 1917. It was the first for the Yanks since Don Larsen tossed his perfect game in the 1956 World Series. The final out of the game didn’t come from a no name hitter either, he got Wade Boggs to swing and miss.
