Of course a Yankees-Red Sox game is exception to new Sunday night time

While the vast bulk of ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball” games are being moved to 7 p.m., there is one Yankees-Red Sox matchup that will remain in the old 8 p.m. time slot.

The Yankees-Red Sox’s Sept. 8 game at Fenway Park will be at 8 p.m. It is one of only two games on the schedule that won’t have the new 7 p.m. start time.

The reason for the Yankees-Red Sox later slot is the US Open Final. ESPN doesn’t want to risk the Open Final, which will begin at 4 p.m., bleeding into the start of “Sunday Night Baseball.
