MLB is planning to suspend spring training on Friday and delay the start of the season to combat the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The Post’s Joel Sherman reports.
The decision came after a conference call between MLB owners on Thursday morning and after the NBA and MLS already suspended their leagues. The NHL is expected to follow suit shortly.
The tipping point in the sports world came on Wednesday night when Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for coronavirus. Gobert’s teammate, Donovan Mitchell, tested positive on Thursday. Mitchell’s dad works for the Mets and has been around the team in Florida after attending a Jazz-Knicks game last week, The Post’s Joel Sherman reported.
