The Yankees couldn’t get an ace. So they’re getting multiple rotation options.
A few days after acquiring J.A. Happ, the Yankees traded for Minnesota’s Lance Lynn on Monday, adding more depth to a rotation that already includes Luis Severino, Masahiro Tanaka, CC Sabathia and Sonny Gray. Going to the Twins will be minor league first baseman Tyler Austin and 19-year-old pitching prospect Luis Rijo.
Lynn, a 31-year-old right-hander, is 7-8 with a 5.10 ERA on the year, but he’s been better of late. In his past four starts, the longtime Cardinal went 2-2 with a 3.68 ERA.
