Disclaimer: If you think this is the official website of the New York Yankees, you're an idiot. Go away.
A deadline is approaching and the Yankees might have to act fast.
Teams have until 8 p.m. Wednesday to add highly regarded prospects to their 40-man rosters or risk possibly losing them to the Rule 5 Draft.
Often, teams trade prospects they don’t plan to protect so they don’t simply lose them for nothing. For example: Last November, the Yankees traded minor-league pitcher Jordan Foley to the Rockies for another pitcher, righty Jefrey Valdez, rather than leaving Foley unprotected.
