The New York Yankees are promoting top prospect Gleyber Torres from Double-A Trenton to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where the 20-year-old will be one step away from the Bronx.
Torres slashed .273/.367/.496 in 32 games with the Thunder this season including five home runs and an OPS of .863. He played in 19 games for New York in spring training and went 13-for-29 (.448) with two home runs and six doubles while posting a .931 slugging percentage.
MLB Pipeline’s second-best prospect played in 163.1 innings at shortstop to kick off 2017. He also registered 47 at second base and 56 at the hot corner.
