The New York Yankees announced that right-handed pitcher Chad Green was sent down to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following their 5-3 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night.
Green warmed up during the second inning in which CC Sabathia gave up five earned runs, but didn’t get an appearance on Tuesday’s game until the eighth inning. The 25-year old registered a scoreless frame and two strikeouts.
In 26.2 innings (five starts) with the RailRiders this season, Green owns a 4.72 ERA and 33 strikeouts. As far as what his role will be in the majors throughout the remainder of the 2017 season, one can obviously expect Green to be a frequent rider on the Scranton Shuttle to be employed as a long-relief option.
