The New York Yankees have made two roster moves on Thursday by optioning 25-year-old Mason Williams to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and 23-year-old right-handed pitcher James Kaprielian to minor league camp.
Kaprielian made his spring debut on Wednesday against the Toronto Blue Jays and didn’t allow a run over two innings of work while striking out three with a fastball that sat in the 95-96 mph range.
While one of the Yankees’ top pitching prospects won’t crack the big leagues to begin camp, thanks to the surplus of question marks behind Masahiro Tanaka, don’t be surprised to see the most major league ready hurler on the farm to make his debut as soon as 2017.
