The New York Yankees traded for David Carpenter this off-season in bundle, which also included acquiring Chasen Shreve, for the Yankees’ Minor League prospect Manny Banuelos. While Shreve has been a great addition to the Yankees bullpen, Carpenter on the other hand hasn’t been so great.
Last Wednesday against the Seattle Mariners is when the Yankees officially gave up on Carpenter. In 22 games Carpenter was 0-1 with a 4.82 ERA. When they designated him for assignment, to make room for Masahiro Tanaka, they had ten days after in which they could trade, waive, or release him.
