Jordan Montgomery takes the ball in the midst of an up-and-down year that’s seen some truly great starts and more than a little mediocrity. Two weeks ago he threw seven shutout innings against the White Sox, but in his last start he didn’t even complete five, giving up three runs and notching just a single strikeout against the Blue Jays.
