The starting rotation has been set for the New York Yankees‘ upcoming playoff series against the Minnesota Twins. James Paxton will start Game 1, with Masahiro Tanaka and Luis Severino taking the mound for Games 2 and 3, respectively. That means no CC Sabathia in the rotation, and the veteran left-hander (who’s in his last season) won’t be coming out of the bullpen either.
Sabathia, according to Meredith Marakovits of YES, won’t be on the team’s roster for their American League Division Series matchup. Apparently, the cortisone shot he received didn’t positively affect the veteran’s shoulder as much as the organization was pulling for.
