He did it his way.
Derek Jeter, the New York Yankees legend who carved a special piece of city history for two decades, made his big-league debut on this day (Wednesday, May 29, 2019) 24 years ago.
It came during the 1995 season, the Yanks first postseason appearance campaign since 1981. Jeter enjoyed a cup of coffee that year, called up and sent down through the season prior to his AL Rookie of the Year campaign of 1996.
On this day, he turned two for starting pitcher Jack McDowell, in Jeter style.
