I get most of my inspiration off of fan’s emotions as opposed to spitting out stats. That’s the real drive of the game for me. Edge of the seat, pitch anticipation. A young fan thinking a player is immortal and will always come through.
Sitting up hours after a game stewing over that one at-bat from your hero that never happened. The prospect that comes into the bright lights and just battles to make his mark in the history books. One pitch, one swing, one moment. That’s real baseball.
But when did the adult fan decide it’s no longer enough to enjoy the moment and only the result is most important?
