For the third consecutive month, the New York Yankees have promoted one of their top prospects to AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
In May, it was stud pitcher Luis Severino. June saw powerful outfielder Aaron Judge take the next step. July’s holiday weekend had the latest prospect get promoted: first basemen Greg Bird.
Bird, taken in the fifth round of the 2011 Amateur Draft, is a power hitting first basemen who is typically regarded as one of the top five prospects in the Yankees system.
The former backstop has seen his game steadily improve over the last four seasons.
