The New York Yankees announced Monday afternoon that Greg Bird will be out for six to eight weeks after having ankle surgery Tuesday. The surgery is to repair a small broken spur on the outside of his right ankle.
Bird had reported soreness in his right ankle and was scratched from the Yankees lineup in a Spring Training game last Saturday.
After undergoing an MRI and a CT Scan the team learned that Bird had inflammation in that ankle. He was scheduled to meet with Dr. Martin O’Malley Monday where they had learned of his fate.
