It’s safe to say that Gleyber Torres has been a phenom for the New York Yankees in 2019. Entering Sunday, the infielder had a ballclub-leading 29 home runs with 73 RBIs this year, posting a slash line of .284/.348/.537 as well.
He’s definitely one of the main reasons the Yanks are at the top of the standings with an 83-42 record. His recent power surge is the biggest reason for his breakout this season.
“We saw his power last year. We’ve watched him these last two years. He’s got the ability to hit the ball out to all fields,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said, per Howie Kussoy of the New York Post.
