The New York Yankees might have just lost another player due to injury after third baseman Gio Urshela was plunked on the hand by a fastball on Tuesday night.
Urshela stayed in the game but left shortly after as his left hand began to blow up and was visibly black and blue. This could be an indication of a broken hand, a potentially serious injury. A fractured hand would theoretically end Gio’s season and would scratch the Yankees’ best defensive player from the lineup for the playoffs.
With the Yankees already without Edwin Encarnacion and Gleyber Torres working through fatigued legs, losing Urshela would be catastrophic.
