The New York Yankees are clearly a win-now team. They haven’t been in rebuilding mode since 2016, when they traded closer Aroldis Chapman to the Cubs for a package that included a then-prospect Gleyber Torres.
However, a team doesn’t have to be rebuilding to have a good farm, just like a contending team doesn’t necessarily have to boast a bad system. Having a good foundation to win in the present time AND a bright future coming up is the ideal scenario, though.
For the New York Yankees, the farm system has suffered several hits in the last few years.
