Just hours after the Houston Astros announced the promotion of top prospect Carlos Correa to the bigs, they designated third baseman Matt Dominguez for assignment in order to make room on their 40-man roster. After serving as the Astros primary third baseman from 2012-2014, Dominguez has spent his entire 2015 season with the Fresno Grizzlies, the AAA affiliate of the Houston Astros.
His best season came in 2013, when he batted .241/.286/.403 with 21 homers in 152 games. This year, the 25-year old is hitting .251/.289/.371 with 4 homers and 26 RBI through 45 games played.
