New York Yankees shortstop Didi Gregorius simply can’t be stopped in this year’s World Baseball Classic and on Monday, he helped the Netherlands hand the tournament’s Cinderella story — Team Israel — its first loss.
Didi, as his country’s designated hitter, went 2-for-3 with a home run, five RBI’s and three runs scored in the Netherlands 12-2 win over Israel in Tokyo, Japan. The 27-year-old drove in Wladimir Balentien in the third inning on a double to make it 5-0 and hit a three-run homer off Danny Burawa in the fourth to make it 10-0.
