Regular readers of Pinstripe Alley know that I’m a Sonny Gray apologist. His last start against Boston, however, proved the boiling point. A person can only take so many clunkers before giving up on a pitcher. I want Gray to succeed, not only because that means the Yankees are better, but also because he’s a very likable guy. A good start tonight could be a step in the right direction towards winning fans over.
Thankfully Gray is pitching in Toronto, and for some reason he loves it there. He allowed one run over four innings in his season opener, then hurled eight innings of shutout ball last month.
