New York Yankees add righty Jake Barrett for bullpen depth

Maybe the Dellin Betances injury and Aroldis Chapman velocity downturn are worse than the New York Yankees are letting on. The team may have indicated as much by snatching up reliever Jake Barrett from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday.

The Yankees have acquired RHP Jake Barrett off waivers from Pittsburgh. To make room on the 40-man roster, RHP Ben Heller (right elbow UCL surgery recovery) was transferred to the 60-day I.L. Barrett has been optioned to @swbrailriders.
