New York Yankees' Aaron Hicks sits out Monday's game in wake of police shooting

DUNEDIN, Fla. -- New York Yankees center fielder Aaron Hicks took himself out of the lineup for Monday's series opening win against the Toronto Blue Jays at TD Ballpark in the wake of the unrest in Minneapolis after the police shooting of Daunte Wright on Sunday night

During his pregame media availability, manager Aaron Boone said designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton was also considering sitting the game out, but the slugger ended up playing Monday night in New York's 3-1 win.

"With all that's going on in Minneapolis, he's having a tough time right now," Boone said of Hicks.
