The New York City Council is expected to approve a ban on smokeless tobacco at ticketed sporting events on Tuesday. The prohibition will affect both spectators and players at Citi Field and Yankee Stadium.
Chicago on Wednesday joined San Francisco, Boston and Los Angeles in enacting a similar ban.
The penalty in New York is expected to match the fine for smoking where it's prohibited in the city.
Mayor Bill de Blasio still will need to sign the smokeless tobacco ban after it gets the expected council approval next week.
