The Yankees added eight players Tuesday as the roster limit expanded to 40 on Sept. 1.
The callups: Utility men Dustin Ackley, Jose Pirela and Rob Refsnyder; bullpen arms Andrew Bailey, Caleb Cotham and lefty James Pazos; reserve catcher Austin Romine and designated pinch-runner Rico Noel.
Absent from this list is top outfield prospect Aaron Judge, whose numbers have lagged since his promotion to Triple-A.
Since being bumped up to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in late June, Judge is hitting .229 with eight home runs in 55 games.
“He’s not tearing it up in Triple-A right now, and I don’t see anybody at Triple-A being able to solve our problem at the major-league level right now,” Cashman told NJ.
