Archer, 29, has been the target the Yankees have most often connected lately. The strongest, too. And it makes plenty of sense. Though they added J.A. Happ on Thursday, Archer has more potential; the Yankees desire front-ling starting pitching behind Luis Severino; and his contract has very affordable team options for 2020 and 2021.
5-8, 4.43 ERA, 21 starts
Gausman, 27, would fit the Yankees the way Archer might. Though he’s less accomplished than Archer, a two-time All-Star, Guasman is a former top prospect who has filthy stuff, including a high-90s fastball.
