DETROIT — The Yankees showed interest in starting pitcher Miguel Gonzalez before he signed with the White Sox, according to a report from the Baltimore Sun's Eduardo Encina.

Gonzalez, 31, had been released by the Orioles, who then tried to re-sign him to a minor-league deal, the report said.
The Yankees' interest in Gonzalez makes sense from a depth standpoint.
