This week in the MLB started with Jackie Robinson Day.
Robinson broke the color barrier when made his historic debut on April 15, 1947. The MLB honored Robinson and his legacy by retiring his number throughout the league in 1997. It wasn't until 2009 that the league gave players and on-field personnel special No. 42 jerseys to celebrate the day.
Players showed out honoring one of baseball's most iconic players with several tributes.
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton wore a pair of custom cleats that featured Robinson in his Brooklyn Dodgers uniform along with a quote from Robinson.
