MLB hot stove: Free agent lefty reliever Antonio Bastardo reportedly on Mets' radar

The Mets have a tough call to make in regards to setting up their 2016 bullpen.

They appear to be in good shape for right-handers, but Sean Gilmartin seemingly is the only sure thing among lefties until Josh Edgin fully recovers from March 2015 Tommy John surgery, which may or may not be for opening day 2016.

Compounding matters is Gilmartin was better against right-handed hitters during his standout rookie campaign in 2015.

Thus, the Mets are monitoring what's still available in the free agent market perhaps with the hope of adding a veteran lefty reliever at a bargain price.
