MLB Draft 2016: Yankees select RHP Nick Nelson 128th overall

In the fourth round of the draft, the Yankees took right-handed pitcher Nick Nelson from Gulf Coast Community College, 128th overall. He is listed at 325th overall on Baseball America's top 500 list and 38th in the state of Florida, making him a bit of a reach here. Nelson was previously drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 31st round of the 2014 MLB Draft, but obviously did not sign.

After deciding to go to junior college for the 2015 season, Nelson pitched to a 2.96 ERA in 24.1 innings over seven appearances, six of which were starts.
