Mike Mussina gives Yankees 1-2 Hall of Fame punch with Mariano Rivera

Mariano Rivera won’t be the only ex-Yankee joining the Baseball Hall of Fame this summer — his longtime teammate Mike Mussina will also be enshrined.

Mussina, who played for the Yankees from 2001 until he retired after the 2008 season, was named on 326 of the 425 ballots cast by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America — 76.7 percent.

Seventy-five percent is needed for election. Mussina got in on his sixth year on the ballot.

Rivera was elected by a historic unanimous vote. Edgar Martinez and Roy Halladay also were elected Tuesday.

The right-handed Mussina compiled a 123-72 record in his eight seasons with the Yankees, and a 270-153 overall record in 18 seasons.
