Just in the last year, the Yankees tried Greg Bird, Neil Walker, Tyler Austin and even some Brandon Drury before trading for Luke Voit. And remember when Miguel Andujar was supposed to switch corner positions?
The Yankees are out of reasons to say no to Mike Ford.
The 26-year-old first baseman was called up Tuesday, when Bird hit the IL with a left plantar fascia tear. The position now belongs to Voit, but Ford will see major league time, the culmination of a long climb up the system that began with the Yankees signing the undrafted Princeton graduate in 2013.
